Medical Information Bureau
FL116274 - 3 Hours
This continuing education course for life and health agents explains the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) and the type of underwriting information it collects.

Most policyholders are not aware of the existence of the Medical Information Bureau ("MIB") and the type of underwriting information that it collects. Life insurance companies share medical information so consumers can’t game the system and cause adverse selection. The MIB is a non-profit credit rating agency that has approximately 450 insurance company members and that tracks the medical history (including driving records, criminal activity, hazardous sports, and drug and alcohol abuse) for about 15 million Americans. These risk factors play into the rating of life and health policies and help to place applicants in the appropriate risk category.
